BRIDGE OF PERSIA 2013

Magical Nights is a unique fundraising event held every 18 months in the Middle East and Europe. The vast majority of the charity’s funds are raised through this event. This is made possible through the generosity of well‐known and established Iranian and international artists, who donate their works for sale at this Fundraising Art Auction and Gala. Conducted by Christie’s, this year the auction entitled Bridge of Persia, will be held in the London.

Due to the recognition that these auctions have gained, Magic of Persia appoints a curator to oversee the selection process for donated works. This event is the single most important of all Magic of Persia activities as the funds raised during these auctions support all of Magic of Persia’s programmes and beneficiaries. Magic of Persia also supports other charities and humanitarian causes through the raised funds.

'WHO IS THIS HOSSEIN THE WORLD IS CRAZY ABOUT?'

The work of Charles-Hossein Zenderoudi

Sunday 12 May, 14.00–17.30

The British Museum,
BP Lecture Theatre

Sponsored by Magic of Persia

In the presence of Charles-Hossein Zenderoudi, a series of presentations will consider this masterpiece, which was acquired by the British Museum in 2011, in detail and discuss this renowned artist’s oeuvre more widely.

Who is this Hossein the world is crazy about? will also be on display during the course of the afternoon.

The second part of the afternoon will present Abbas Kiarostami's Looking at Ta’ziye (The Spectators). Independent curator and writer Vali Mahlouji will introduce Kiarostami’s important installation and discuss the wider context of appropriations of the ritual form of performance by contemporary Iranian artists.

Sponsored by MAGIC OF PERSIA as a part of the 'DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES ON MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY IRANIAN ART' series.
