| Inaugural
Gala, 30th September 2004 |
| The Encyclopaedia Iranica, a multi-disciplinary
reference work and research tool designed to record the facts of
Iranian history and civilisation, was the focus of our 2004 Inaugural
Gala Dinner. Founded by Dr. Ehsan Yarshater at Columbia University
Center for Iranian Studies in the USA, the work is both a comprehensive
and extensive presentation of the persianate civilisation. Magic
of Persia awarded Encyclopaedia Iranica with an educational grant
to continue this masterpiece of scholarly work. Dr. Shirin Ebadi,
the Nobel Peace Prize laureate for her outstanding work on children,
women and human rights issues, spoke on video when extenuating
circumstances prevented her from appearing as the Honorary Speaker.
The proceeds from this event went to Encyclopaedia Iranica, The
British Museum and the Mehran David Foundation. |
