  Magic of Persia Filmmaking Scholarship at The London Film School Launch

Iranian Diaspora and it’s Cinematic Imagination’ at the British Museum, 7th July 2010. Magic of Persia has partnered with the London Film School (LFS) to provide a scholarship for an Iranian student to attend it’s two-year MA Filmmaking Course. Fateme Ahmadi has been selected from a shortlist of 12 candidates from Iran, nominated by a group of highly accomplished Iranians in the film industry.

To Launch the scholarship, Magic of Persia will hold an event at the British Museum on the 7th July 2010; an exciting film talk entitled ‘Iranian Diaspora and it’s Cinematic Imagination.’ Chaired by Dr. Hamid Naficy. This talk will examine the politics and aesthetics of the films that Iranian filmmakers have made in their European and North American Diaspora. A panel discussion will provide a context for the practice of filmmaking within the Iranian Diasposa. Panel members include: Golshifteh Farahani, Tina Gharavi, Babak Jalali, Kim Longinotto, Ziba Mir-Hosseini & Shirin Neshat.
  Magical Nights Fundraiser 2010

Magic of Persia is privileged to host a spectacular Fundraising Gala in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan bin Mubarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education & Scientific Research, U.A.E. This event is made possible by the continued generosity of our renowned donating artists, the incomparable designs of Ali Bakhtiar and the support of our auction partner, Christie’s. Distinguished guests will enjoy a traditional evening of Persian music and dance, and dine under the stars in the Palm Gardens of The Yas Hotel, Abu Dhabi, home of Formula One.

Funds raised will go to Magic of Persia Educational Programmes and Art Initiatives. Beneficiaries also include The Future Centre for Special Needs, Abu Dhabi; Delfina Foundation Residencies, London; and The Saatchi Gallery Educational Workshops for Children, London.

  MOP CAP 2009 Winner’s Exhibition, Saatchi Gallery, Autumn 2010

Mahmoud Bakhshi Moakhar, the winner of the Magic of Persia Contemporary Art Prize 2009 (MOP CAP), has been awarded a solo show in one of the exhibition spaces at the Saatchi Gallery, London. The exhibition will be running from 27th of September to 10th of October 2010. The Saatchi Gallery aims to provide an innovative forum for contemporary art, presenting work by largely unseen young artists or by international artists whose work has been rarely or never exhibited in the UK.
